About Julia:

Hi! My name is Julia and I’m a mother to my beautiful daughter Jessica and 3 dogs and 3 cats, a wife to my supportive husband Timmy, and a teacher to 124 middle school students. I am originally from Australia (all my family still lives there). Our frugal journey started in 2007 when my husband lost his job (our main income). Needless to say our lifestyle had to change immediately. I started Couponing to be Debt Free in January 2010 to share the deals I find and to keep myself more accountable – I do this by using coupons, shopping wisely and finding HOT deals. My blog has grown into something I am very passionate about – helping as many people as I can spend as little as possible on every day expenses. After all, we all want to live a caviar life on a shoe string budget! :)  I just get so darn excited when I save money and I hope you will join me on the journey to save lots of money.

I seen on your facebook page that you posed coupons from the Louisville paper! I’m not too far from Louisville! (Don’t get that paper delivered here :( ) but that it was cool that we might not bee too far from each other!

I hope this helps.

I am so glad that couponing has finally caught on. My mother used coupons as I was growing up, and she taught me to never leave home wihtout them. Last year a coupon enabled us to go on vacation for 5 days in Gatlingurg, anf go to Ripleys aquarium, Dixie Stampede, Dollywood, Ripleys haunted house, wax museum, and Ripleys beleive it or not, all for $448 and this was for all four of us total. I think all the support is a great motivator for us all. Thank You for your website and blog!!

I HAVE BEEN USING COUPONS THESE LAST FEW MONTHS, BUT I USUALLY ONLY SAVE ABOUT $20-30 DOLLARS OFF. I HAVE TRIED TO FIND COUPONS FOR EVERYTHING ON MY LIST, SOMETIMES I’D GET LUCKY, AND SOMETIMES WON’T FIND ANYTHING. DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY ADVICE? DAIRY PRODUCTS, MEATS, FROZEN FOODS, PRODUCE AND BREADS ARE MAINLY MY HARD ITEMS TO FIND. I AM THE ONLY PARENT IN THE HOME RIGHT NOW AND INCOME RIGHT NOW AND UNFORTUNATELY GET TOLD I MAKE TOO MUCH TO GET ASSISTANCE BUT NOT ENOUGH TO PAY MY BILLS ON TIME UNFORTUNATELY LIKE I WANT TO. APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE….

Please help, I’m confused. I thought all of the Winn-Dixie stores were closed around the Louisville area. Then I noticed today that you have listed some deals for Winn-Dixie. Is there still a store open close? Thank you!

Julia June 7, 2011 at 9:56 am

There are no Winn Dixie Stores in the Louisville area. I post Winn Dixie deals as I have readers from across the USA so I try and cover as many bases as I can. :)

Wow. Our Winn-Dixie closed over 5 years ago. I thought the whole company had gone out of business. I guess they just majorly down-sized. You learn something new every day.

My husband found your site when looking around for different couponing sites. It is by far our favorite, and we loved it even more once we found out you were from Louisville as well. Thanks for this site, it has really helped us a lot!

Thank you so much for creating this site. It truly has helped me save a ton. Who would’ve thought that my little cousins’ math teacher was the couponing queen. Thanks again and I hope we get to meet one day!

Just wanted to pass on a great new daily deal site, DealRhino.net. They give back a minimum of 30% to non profits, that the buyer chooses. They are located primarily in SC right now, but will go nationwide. They are currently running a $50 Amazon gift card giveway, sign up for daily emails, then go to the facebook page and enter on the contest tab. First giveway ends midnight 11/16/11. Tell everyone Couponing to be Debt Free sent you and the top referral will also get one!

Hello, I am new to couponing also. I started in May 2011. I am saving maybe about $40 or $50. I would like to buy $137.00 of groceries and just pay under $10.00. What are some of your strategies. I live in Lexington Ky. It’s good to find another person from Kentucky who is trying to save money and get out of debt.

I am very new to this as well. I recently suffered a herniated disc and decided that this down time gives me the opportunity to finally learn this couponing thing. I have watched extreme couponing and its very exciting and scary all at the same time. I live in Central Florida with no Bi-Lo’s or Krogers. Can someone tell me if its possible to save as much as you are being down here?

Love your blog as well. I’m not super new to this couponing deal, but I love learning and meeting new people. I love coupons, in 3 words.

@Jeanette you can save as much as possible. Just read the couponing blogs every day and get tips for each one of them. It will take time, but you can save hundreds of dollars with ease. This is why I and millions of people love coupons.

when you contact companies for possible coupons – how extensive to you make your emails. Could you give a little sample of what you would send. I have sent several emails of this sort — but have had no luck so far — just wandering what I may be doing wrong.

Hi Julia: New to couponing in last 6 months. Totally committed to it now. I would love to find others close to where I live to swap coupons they are not using or I am not using. I get 4 newspapers a week and collect off internet. I am wanting to donate products to the needy but have not found a way to collect coupons in mass quantity. Any advice? Love your site and suggestions

I got some great deals at Harris Teeter this weekend. I love their e-vic specials. I got a 12oz bag of Starbucks coffee (reg. $10.99) for $4.47. I also had a $4 off my next order coupon so really I got it for $0.47. On that order I only paid $6.29 for $22.86 worth of products. That is a 72.5% savings. Granted I don’t do that good on a regular shopping trip but every now and then I get good deals. A few weeks ago, I stocked my hubby up on deodorant (8 sticks) for $8. This is deodorant that is regularly $4+ a stick. That will probably last him a year or more. Thanks for posting deals. The past few weeks I haven’t been able to view your blog but it finally opened up for me.
